Grants and Funding

Grants and other funding opportunities may be available to companies for training, consulting, and other services.  OMEP may help companies access such funding.

Employer Workforce Training Fund Grants

Employer Workforce Training Fund (EWTF) grants are aimed at training for incumbent workers throughout Oregon to support the retention and growth of living wage jobs, a skilled workforce, and competitive businesses in the state.  The emphasis of the funds is to upgrade skills of the workforce in order to increase productivity, keep Oregon businesses viable and competitive, and to offer new skills and opportunities to Oregon's workers.  These funds may be available to companies to supplement fees for OMEP services.   For more information, contact OMEP or your regional EWTF (Worksource) office.

CURRENT OMEP GRANTS

Renew Northwest
In January, 2010, the Department of Labor (with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 funds) awarded a $5M Energy Training Partnership Grant to OMEP working in collaboration with several partners in the greater Portland - Salem - Vancouver area.  Partners include four local Workforce Investment Boards, the Washington MEP, Sheet Metal-16, community colleges, regional economic development organizations, the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, and utility companies.
The overall purpose of the Renew Northwest grant project is to: 1) develop a regional renewable electric energy supply chain infrastructure (wind, solar, biofuels, wave, etc); 2) assist renewable energy providers and supply chain companies with re-tooling and with implementation of Lean and sustainable manufacturing practices; and 3) build a skilled workforce for jobs in the renewable energy industries.
If you are currently in the renewable energy supply chain or wish to learn more about this opportunity, please contact OMEP.

Northwest Supply Chain and Sustainability Initiative
In October, 2010, OMEP was awarded a $500,000 Cooperative Agreement from the U.S. Department NIST MEP to fund its proposed Northwest Supply Chain and Sustainability Initiative.  This bi-state project (Oregon/Washington) will extend supply chain and sustainability activities throughout both states beyond the geographic limitations of the Renew Northwest grant.  If successful in its first program year, the project may be re-funded at the same amount for two subsequent years – potentially a $1.5 award covering both states over three years.
If you have interest or questions about this or any of OMEP’s grant opportunities, please contact OMEP.
