Listed below is a partial list of the classes that are available to client companies with OMEP consulting contracts. OMEP also provides customized training in all areas of the company as needed to meet the client's needs. Introduction of Lean for Company LeadersIntroduction to Lean for Leaders: This half-day class with simulation is focused on company leadership and is designed to introduce participants to lean principles and practices from the enterprise perspective. The materials provide participants with a strategic perspective regarding their upcoming lean transition. Principles of Lean EnterpriseThe fundamental goal of any lean implementation is to eliminate waste and increase value for the customer. However, before waste can be eliminated it must first be identified. This 4-hour course uses a simulation and introduces the concepts of value adding /non-value adding activities and how to identify waste in both operations and administrative environments. Principles of Lean ManufacturingClassroom training in principles of Lean. This 8 hour class utilizes the traditional Buzz Electronics factory simulation. Throughout the day, students learn and implement Lean tools while eliminating wastes in a hands-on experience as they transform the factory to Lean. Principles of Lean Manufacturing for Food ProcessorsClassroom training in principles of Lean especially for food processors. This 8 hour class utilizes a food processing factory simulation. Throughout the day, students learn and implement Lean tools while eliminating wastes in a hands-on experience as they transform the factory to Lean. Lean English Essentials (Lean for Limited English Speakers)Preparation for non-native English speakers for the Principles of Lean Manufacturing class Value Steam MappingClass room training along with actual mapping of the current state of an existing product value stream to develop a future state product value stream that eliminates the waste in the process, reduces lead time, reduces inventory, and improves throughput. Training Within Industry (TWI)A training method developed by the US Military. It is an often unknown component of Lean that fosters the conditions for process stability and helps develop standard work and continuous improvement. There are three elements: Job Instruction (JI) - A four step method leading to standardized work and continuous improvement that teaches your internal trainers and supervisors to make training straightforward, easy, and effective. Job Methods (JM) – A four step method that eliminates, combines, rearranges, and simplifies process steps Job Relations (JR) – Teaches supervisors how to build positive employee relations, increase cooperation and motivation, and effectively resolve conflicts. 5-SDeveloping a process that helps creates a safe, clean, neat arrangement of the workplace and provides a specific location for everything and eliminates items not required. Includes classroom and actual implementation. TPMTotal Productive Maintenance of equipment to improve the reliability and reduce the down time. Includes classroom and actual implementation. Set-up ReductionReduction of setup times between jobs to reduce the lot sizes. Lean Administrative Value Stream MappingClass room training along with actual mapping of the current state of an existing product value stream to develop a future state product value stream that eliminates the waste in the process, reduces lead time, reduces inventory, and improves throughput. Focus is in the non-manufacturing areas. Pull KanbanClassroom training with factory simulation to implement a Pull system utilizing Kan Ban. Problem SolvingClass room training on problem solving techniques along with examples. Lean LeadershipClassroom training and activities for company leaders and managers to leading the organization through cultural changes. Performance MeasuresThis course provides an introduction to lean manufacturing performance measures including the challenges associated with making a transition from using traditional to using lean measures. Examples and exercises are provided. Visual WorkplaceClassroom training on visual workplace. Focus is to define and identify visual controls, know the characteristics of a visual factory or enterprise, and design and implement visual controls. Classes Available in Spanish include Principles of Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, Set-up Reduction, TWI Job Instruction, TWI Job Methods, TWI Job Relations, and Principles of Lean Manufacturing for Food Processors
