Helping Oregon’s manufacturers to become exporters

Did you know that exports of Oregon’s food & beverage products exceeded $687 million in sales?  In fact, over 70% of the world’s disposable income is outside the U.S.

Is your company able to export and benefit from some of that income?

The world’s fastest growing populations, including the Asia-Pacific area, are well aware of the Columbia Gorge and its excellent food & beverage products.  This is exciting news! There is a huge potential market for your products in these countries, and many of these markets have few competitors.

Since exporting takes time and resources, the Oregon Department of Agriculture’s (ODA) Specialty Crop Grant was awarded to OMEP to help food & beverage processors overcome these hurdles. Our team is here to help Gorge producers like you with your export journey. Whether you are getting ready to export, are interested in increasing your current market, or want to learn more about trade shows and trade missions, we can help.

Collaborating with Business Oregon, Western US Agricultural Trade Association, Small Business Association, US Commercial Services and others, OMEP can work directly with you to explore ways to start or grow your export business.

For example, Business Oregon’s Global Trade Team “attracts inbound investment and helps Oregon businesses access global markets. In cooperation with state, local, and federal partners, Business Oregon helps small- and medium-sized Oregon companies become exporters, and [helps] existing exporters access new markets.”

The wide variety of assistance available includes readiness assessments, export counseling, market research, and evaluation of international partners. They also provide connections to agricultural and trade representatives based overseas. Access to financial assistance is available to offset marketing expense as well as to support the added operational costs of exporting.
